Particularly significant moments include the first meeting of Roxas first off. Something about meeting that kid brought him a great sense of... 'Great, now I have to train someone". He found that he was quickly fond of Roxas though, feeling drawn to him almost. His friendship with the boy led to a breaking of the friendship bond with Saix.
Though that leads to a separate signifcant moment, the plans he had with Saix to take over the organization. He did most of the dirty work in the coup d'tat, being the cause of or the direct killer of multiple Organization members. Though he was distracted more and more by a specific blonde and an unfortunately later forgotten brunette.
Of course, losing Roxas was the most devastating point in his life, or at least it would have been if he had a heart. And he would fight anyone to say he did, because he was told otherwise.
Personality:
Strangely enough, despite his elemental nature, Axel isn't quite a hot head. He can have a temper at time but its a slow burn type. This is a change from what he used to be, so quick to fight. He remembers being like that before but Saix was definitely able to temper some of that temper.
But that had always been the thing about Axel. He was attracted to opposites. People that could be his foil and bring light into his life, but also to those who could eventually make him better. Stagnation in life meant that he was acheiving nothing but the status quo. His competitive nature drives him forward in most that he does, in pre-Nobody life and very hard in the Organization.
Despite his almost brotherly care for Roxas and... wait.. who was that again...any way, he can be particularly selfish. His agenda comes first, though if his agenda is linked close to his allies then you can be sure the job will get done. Its just a matter of getting that loyalty, because as an underhanded treacherous spy he is understandably wary in the matter of trusting.
If there is something needing to be done, the Organization doesn't ask just anyone. That competitive streak can be internalized rather suddenly to a fierce focus, because if the person he works for, is loyal to? If they need to win then he will win for them.
Because lets be honest, it would further him as well.
He shows marks of a kind person, a loyal person beneath that veneer. Particularly to those who cause that internal candle light that may or may not be a heart to flicker in response. Which also means actually betraying him, much like he's done multiple times to other people would result in harsh repercussions. Hypocritical to be sure, but you don't break a liar's trust.
There is an undercurrent of a lonely desperation as well. A man who had something once and lost it only to be presented with something similar but much stronger. And there it goes, off into wind and never to be seen again and oh did it hurt. Axel would do anything to have that bond back, but not just any bond. THAT bond. Except he's an adult with a stronger understanding of how the world works and the realization that it was most likely completely gone was not beyond his scope of acceptance.
Doesn't mean he won't take it out on the kid who took it from him. That selfless sacrifice crap.. It was truly the most selfish thing wasn't it?
